AvtoVAZ has applied for the trademark Lada PHEV AWD
AvtoVAZ has applied for registration of the Lada PHEV AWD trademark. Information about this appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS), an inspection of Izvestia showed.
The PHEV designation stands for the type of plug-in power plant (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). In such vehicles, the internal combustion engine is combined with one or more electric motors. The battery can be charged both from the mains and from the internal combustion engine. AWD is a four—wheel drive system.
The application in the Rospatent database may serve as confirmation of the company's plans announced earlier by the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov. This spring, he shared that AvtoVAZ is developing a hybrid version of the Lada Azimut crossover, and a pilot model of the car will be ready in the third quarter of 2026.
The top manager clarified that the hybrid Lada Azimut will be all-wheel drive, with a total power output of 290 kW (394 hp). The car will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and travel 1,100 km without stopping to refuel or recharge.
The day before, AvtoVAZ announced the launch of a long-term subscription program for Lada cars. The service is called Lada Easily. Initially, only the Lada Vesta sedan with a 1.6-liter engine and an automatic transmission in the Praktik configuration is available for rent.
