Rostec has registered a vaccine against whooping cough and diphtheria for adults
The holding company "Natsimbio" of the Rostec State Corporation has registered the aAKDS-M vaccine for the prevention of whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus in adults. One dose of the drug forms immunity for up to 10 years. This was announced on the Rostec website on April 24.
"The holding company Natsimbio of Rostec State Corporation has received a registration certificate from the Russian Ministry of Health for the first domestic vaccine aAKDS-M for the prevention of whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus in adults," the publication says.
It is specified that the drug contains a reduced amount of antigens, and the pertussis component is presented in a cell-free form. Previously, such vaccines were only available from abroad, which affected their availability. The production facilities can produce up to 5 million doses per year.
"The availability of full—cycle domestic production can be a significant factor for the inclusion of the vaccine in the National Calendar of Preventive vaccinations and the revision of approaches to the prevention of pertussis," said Igor Nikitin, Science Adviser at the Natsimbio holding.
On April 1, the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation informed Izvestia that for the first time in clinical practice, a personalized domestic vaccine against cancer was used in Russia. The agency indicated that today it can be used as a therapy for the treatment of adult patients who have inoperable or metastatic melanoma of the skin.
