Peptides are not a universal solution for skin rejuvenation and require a comprehensive approach to care. Ekaterina Vasilyeva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist, trichologist, founder and chief physician of Artleo Clinic, told Izvestia on April 27.

"With age, systemic changes occur in the skin: the thickness of the dermis decreases, the level of collagen and elastin decreases, the bone structure of the face and the distribution of subcutaneous fat changes. This leads to a loss of elasticity, volume and clarity of contours. Peptides are often perceived as the main means of rejuvenation, but this is a misconception. In adulthood, a comprehensive approach is needed that takes into account all levels of skin changes," the specialist noted.

The expert explained that most peptides in cosmetics act mainly on the epidermis. They can improve the hydration and general condition of the skin, but do not provide a pronounced lifting effect.

At the same time, modern formulas can give a slight tightening effect due to the effect on microfibers of muscles. However, as Vasilyeva emphasized, their effect cannot be compared with injectable methods such as botulinum therapy.

To achieve a noticeable result, in her opinion, it is necessary to combine external care with hardware and injection procedures. This allows you to affect the deeper layers of the skin and maintain cell activity.

The doctor recommended paying special attention to the composition of the funds. In particular, copper peptides that promote regeneration, signal peptides that stimulate collagen production, and neuropeptides that reduce the severity of facial wrinkles are considered effective.

Vasilyeva also stressed that the choice of funds should be individual and take into account the patient's skin characteristics. According to her, only a specialist can choose the optimal care scheme.

Maya Karika, cosmetologist at SLOWMO beauty salon, said on April 10 that dry and polluted air in offices can cause skin dehydration and increase sensitivity. According to her, office air is a factor in chronic skin dehydration. We are faced with a constant decrease in humidity, which leads to an increase in transepidermal moisture loss. As a result, the barrier function of the skin is disrupted, and it becomes more sensitive, reactive, and visually less healthy.
