Callas proposed to strengthen EU maritime missions to open the Strait of Hormuz

At an informal summit, the leaders of the European Union (EU) countries were invited to strengthen the union's maritime missions in the region to facilitate the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on April 24 by the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas.

"It was very clear to all [EU leaders] that freedom of navigation is non—negotiable, so we must make every effort to ensure this," she said before the start of the second day of the informal European meeting.
