The Moscow City Property Department has filed at least 60 lawsuits with the arbitration court against the owners of hostels in apartment buildings since 2025. This was reported on April 24 by the newspaper Vedomosti with reference to court materials.

According to the documents, the city authorities are demanding the forced seizure and sale of premises at auction. The funds received from the transactions, as noted in the publication, are proposed to be transferred to the owners. It is noted that some of the hostels have already stopped working.

The representative of the department confirmed that the placement of hotel facilities is allowed only in premises and on sites, the type of permitted use of which allows such exploitation of the area. In other cases, such activity is contrary to the law.

Earlier, on April 24, it became known that the manager of the hostel where the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall lived, Dalerjon Mirzoev and Mukhammadsobir Fayzov (listed in the Russian Federation as terrorists and extremists), were sentenced to three years in prison with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities in the field of hotel business services. The accused provided accommodation and arranged temporary accommodation in the non-residential premises rented by her for foreign citizens who do not have a temporary residence permit.
