Dmitriev wondered how the EU would pay for Russian gas
Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special presidential envoy for investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries, asked on Thursday, April 23, how the European Union (EU) would pay for Russian gas after the adoption of new sanctions.
"How will the desperate EU pay for the gas from Russia that it will soon be begging for?" — he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On April 23, the Estonian Foreign Ministry reported that the new sanctions against Russia give the EU the opportunity to impose a complete ban on the maritime transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products. Russian icebreakers and tankers will also be prohibited from transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Europe.
