CNN has learned about the US consideration of new strikes against Iranian facilities in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has developed a procedure for attacking Iranian facilities in the Strait of Hormuz in case the ceasefire agreement breaks down. CNN reported this on April 23, citing sources.

"Among the options being considered, in addition to several types of targets, there are strikes with a special focus on the "dynamic destruction" of Iranian facilities in the Strait of Hormuz, the southern part of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman," the publication says.

It clarifies that potential attacks may be on small speedboats, minelaying vessels and other asymmetric means, which allegedly allowed Iran to effectively block important sea routes and use them as a tool of pressure on the United States.

Tehran considered the extension of the ceasefire regime to be another ploy by the United States to prepare for a strike.

American leader Donald Trump said on April 21 that an agreement with Iran would not be possible if the naval blockade was lifted. According to him, Iran wants the Strait of Hormuz to be opened, as Tehran loses $500 million a day on oil sales.
