Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 23, commenting on the European Union (EU) sanctions against Kyrgyzstan, that Bishkek was building relations with Moscow based on its interests, and cooperation between the two countries was mutually beneficial.

"This is not loyalty to Russia, it is primarily loyalty to one's own interests. If a country does something for the sake of its interests, then it gives a certain benefit, which in its volume, let's say, exceeds the amount of benefit that is potentially possible from the other side. And in this case, it is already a justified risk," he said in a comment to Channel One.
