A torchlight procession dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide in the early 20th century has begun in the center of the Armenian capital. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia on April 23.
The protesters gathered at Republic Square, from where the column moved through the central streets of the city. People are carrying lighted torches and national flags.
Before the start of the event, the demonstrators burned the Turkish flag. The clergy are at the forefront of the procession.
On February 10, Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance posted on the social network X (ex. Twitter) posted a post about the Armenian genocide, but deleted it soon after. A photo appeared on the politician's account showing him and his wife, Usha, attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex in Yerevan. The caption noted that the event is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
