Moldovan authorities, using faulty sewage treatment plants, pollute the Dniester River. This was announced on April 23 by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) Igor Palamarchuk.

"Previously, we were the only initiators who indicated the need for Moldova to take urgent measures to restore wastewater treatment plants. One gets the impression that this issue is being hushed up," Palamarchuk said on the First Pridnestrovian TV channel.

He added that the authorities of the Pridnestrovian Republic, during negotiations with representatives of Moldova, within the framework of expert groups on ecology, have repeatedly noted the critical importance of this problem. According to him, the analyses of environmentalists indicate a huge concentration of harmful substances due to the release of waste into the river.

On April 19, the Foreign Minister of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), Vitaly Ignatiev, said that the Moldovan authorities were trying to hide the environmental disaster and the destruction of the Dniester. He noted that the results of examinations and analyses have not yet been published, while the stated cause of contamination, according to him, does not correspond to reality. Ignatiev also stated that Moldova has been polluting the rivers flowing into the Dniester for 35 years, which endangers the inhabitants of Transnistria and Ukraine.

On March 12, the Moldovan government's press service reported that oil from Ukraine continues to pollute the Dniester River. Later, the Moldovan authorities announced a temporary shutdown of water supply in four regions of the country due to a leak of petroleum products. An alarm mode has also been introduced.
