For World Book Day on April 23, Art Pictures Distribution analyzed data from film distribution and TV screenings of film adaptations: among the leaders are "Pinocchio", "Cheburashka", as well as large-scale historical dramas.

On television, film adaptations of literary works are consistently among the highest-rated on-air events, while fairy-tale and family projects demonstrate their maximum performance. Among the programs, the film Cheburashka in 2023 remains the leader with a rating of 10.2% and a share of 33.3%, followed by The Upward Movement in 2017 with a rating of 7.3% and a share of 22.8% and The Hunchback Horse in 2021 with a rating of 6.8% and a share of 27.2%. Also in the top 10 were the film adaptations of "At the behest of the Pike", "And the dawns here are quiet ...", "The Quiet Don", "Tobol", "Sobibor", "Silver Skates" and "The Flying Ship".

In the top film adaptations in terms of the number of screenings, the undisputed leader is "And the dawns here are Quiet..." — the 2015 film adaptation of Boris Vasiliev's military novel has been shown on TV 63 times over the past 10 years. This is followed by "Spiritless 2", the sequel to the 2015 film adaptation of Sergei Minaev's novel, which was shown 30 times during this time. Completing the top 3 is "Tobol", a historical drama based on the novel of the same name, which was shown on the air 17 times after its release in 2019.

Among the film adaptations over the past 10 years, Cheburashka remains the leader with a result of 6.79 billion rubles, followed by The Upward Movement in 2017, which grossed 2.95 billion rubles and At the Behest of the Pike with a result of 2.49 billion rubles.

Next in the lead is Pinocchio, a new film adaptation of Alexei Tolstoy's fairy tale, which was released at the box office on January 1, 2026 and collected 2.4 billion rubles. The film was also shown in cinemas in the USA, Canada, Spain, Switzerland, Israel, Cyprus, and is currently being distributed in Latin American countries.

The Art Pictures Distribution data confirms that film adaptations of literary works continue to occupy key places both in film distribution and in television shows, and fairy-tale and historical plots consistently form the greatest interest of viewers.

On April 20, Art Pictures Distribution announced that the Russian films "Red Silk" and "Pinocchio" will be presented in Kazakhstan as part of the Russian Film Festival, which will be held in Astana from April 23 to 26. Earlier, Russian films were shown at festivals in Armenia, Singapore, Thailand, Belarus and other countries.
