Tehran does not see the seriousness in the US approach to negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in the Middle East. This was announced by Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali at a reception on the occasion of the Islamic Republic Army Day on April 23.

"Iran does not see a serious approach [to negotiations] from the United States," he said.

Jalali added that the Islamic Republic remains committed to a diplomatic solution to the conflict, but does not see the same attitude from Washington.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said on April 22 that the American side understands who could make a deal with Iran and is waiting for a "unified proposal" from Tehran. In addition, she noted that the American leader Donald Trump decided to extend the ceasefire because Iran "needs to put its affairs in order."

On the same day, Trump admitted that peace talks with Iran could take place within the next one and a half to three days. He also said on April 20 that he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which expires on the night of April 23.
