A dangerous loan often begins to manifest itself already at the stage of familiarization with the contract. Denis Sochnev, managing partner of <url>, warned about this on Thursday, April 23.

Sochnev emphasized in a conversation with Lenta.Ru if the terms of the contract are worded in a confusing way, the key provisions are not explained or remain in the "small print", this means that the person actually assumes obligations without fully understanding their content.

The expert believes that floating interest rate provisions look particularly risky when the lender can unilaterally raise it without any action on the part of the borrower.

"Unlike transparent conditions — for example, when the rate depends on the availability of insurance — such mechanisms create uncertainty and make the financial burden difficult to predict," he said.

Sochnev added that the second important sign is the inflated cost of the loan. This is not only about a high interest rate, but also about fines, penalties and additional payments that can multiply the debt.

"This practice is often found in the segment of microfinance organizations, where even a small delay can quickly turn into serious debt," the economist warned.

He stressed that the status of the creditor is important. If an organization is not listed in the register of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and does not have a license to conduct such activities, this is a serious reason to cancel the transaction. If a borrower is forced to take out new loans to repay old ones, this is a key symptom of an out-of-control debt burden, the expert concluded.

State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev said on April 9 that citizens who find a loan issued in their name without consent should immediately contact the Credit History Bureau with a request to check the relevant record and exclude it, as well as law enforcement agencies.

In turn, lawyer Dmitry Kvasha explained what to do if a loan was issued in your name without your knowledge. He noted that it is necessary to order an extract with your credit history at Gosuslugi. If a microloan is detected, you should request information from the organization about how they know your number and data. If they provide information, you can go to the police and file a fraud report. 360.ru .

On March 31, the metropolitan police detained a suspect in fraud using a fake passport in December 2020. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the capital to the Moscow city News agency.

Dmitry Trepolsky, a financial expert and business expert at Pronline, said that the second half of 2026 would be the most profitable time to take out a loan. This is due to the fact that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation may reduce the key rate to 13-14%, he admitted.
