The European Union (EU) sanctions against Belarus have been extended until February 28, 2027 as part of the 20th package of sanctions. The EU Council announced this on April 23.

"Today's package of measures continues to examine the role of Belarus in assisting Russia. <...> The sanctions regime against Belarus was extended by the Council until February 28, 2027," reads a publication on the Council's website.

According to the report, it is also the first time that a Chinese state-owned company that is involved in the production of military products in Belarus has been sanctioned. In addition, it is planned to limit the provision of services in the field of cybersecurity and tourism, as it was previously done in Russia.

On April 23, the EU finally approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. As part of it, the Council of the European Union (EU) was given the opportunity to impose a complete ban on the maritime transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products. Transactions with 20 Russian banks were also banned.

On the same day, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, noted that the adoption by EU countries of the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions primarily threatens Ukraine, for which this step could be fraught with even greater devastation. This decision, he added, is an effort to continue the conflict, which, in turn, can be called the purest absurdity.
