The EU has named conditions for the use of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine
Ukraine, as part of a €90 billion loan from the European Union (EU), can purchase weapons only in Europe, internally or from third parties with the permission of the union. The EU Council announced this on April 23.
"The financing will provide Ukraine with extremely important and timely access to defense products from defense enterprises of Ukraine, the EU, the EEA-EFTA countries, as well as other third countries," the EU Council said in a statement on its website.
It clarifies that the purchase of weapons from third countries is possible only with the approval of the EU. In addition, the loan will be divided into two parts in the amount of €30 billion and € 60 billion, where the first part can be spent on any needs of Kiev, and the second — strictly for the purchase of weapons and the development of the military-industrial complex.
On the same day, the EU finally approved the allocation of a loan to Ukraine in the amount of €90 billion. Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu noted that a new loan to Kiev in the amount of €90 billion would be a step towards the final loss of sovereignty by European capitals.
Alexey Chepa, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, in turn noted that the EU had approved a loan to Kiev in the amount of €90 billion for money laundering. The parliamentarian explained that the decision to approve the funds does not guarantee their actual provision.
