The expert named the maximum payments in case of accidents on scooters

Kicksharing users and victims of electric scooter incidents can expect insurance benefits, but coverage is not valid in all cases. This was reported to Izvestia on April 24 by Grigory Ogorodnikov, Head of cooperation with regional government authorities at Yrent.

"Basic insurance is enabled automatically and is valid by default during each trip, the user does not need to take additional actions to activate it," he said.

According to the specialist, the insurance covers injuries sustained in falls or collisions. These may include fractures, bruises, ligament injuries, and other injuries that require medical attention.

The expert emphasized that the insurance covers not only the user, but also third parties. If a pedestrian is injured or property is damaged as a result of an incident, the insurance company can compensate for the damage caused. The maximum amount of payments in such situations can reach 2 million rubles, but it is determined individually, depending on the severity of the injury and the duration of treatment.

"However, insurance does not apply in all situations. For example, an insured event may not be recognized as such if the user grossly violated the rules of using a scooter — he drove it under the influence of alcohol, rode together on the same scooter, or violated traffic rules," Ogorodnikov added.

According to Ogorodnikov, in case of an incident, it is important to record the circumstances of the incident — take a photo or video, contact customer support, and if there are victims, call an ambulance and the police.

Earlier, on April 2, it was reported that the Moscow Department of Transport, together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, is working on amending legislation, according to which heavy electric scooters and bicycles will be prohibited from moving on sidewalks. In addition, the metropolitan authorities are going to transfer information about traffic violations by couriers on electric scooters and electric bicycles to courier services and the State Traffic Inspectorate.
