The OP proposed to introduce recommendations on prices for university tuition
The Ministry of Education and Science should develop recommendations on the range of prices for paid tuition at universities. This was announced on April 23 by Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
"When programs in Moscow universities cost more than a million, or even two million, the possibility of education for children from ordinary families is practically closed," he said in an interview with TASS.
Grib suggested considering the possibility of introducing a "soft" cost ceiling, as well as designating minimum benchmarks. According to him, too low prices also raise questions in terms of the quality of specialist training.
He added that the initiative could come from the public council under the Ministry of Education and Science and should be implemented in the form of recommendations rather than strict regulation.
On April 22, Leonid Slutsky, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, sent a letter to Maxim Shaskolsky, head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), asking him to check the validity of the increase in tuition fees at Russian universities. It was clarified that in 2025, the cost of tuition for first-year applicants increased by an average of 12% compared to 2024. At the same time, for students who enrolled in 2022, the price increase for several years was about 30%.
