The Polish zoologist advised not to approach or stroke the beaver when meeting
When meeting a beaver, you should not approach the animal, touch and feed it, as the animal may feel danger and show aggression. Veronika Narbut, a zoologist and zoopsychologist from Poland, told about this on April 23.
"The stupidest and most irresponsible thing you can do when meeting a beaver is to try to attract its attention by shouting "Beaver, you hen!" (a popular phrase is a meme from a video of a man who swore when he saw the animal. — Ed.) and touch an animal, disturbing its peace," Narbut said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The zoologist added that it is not necessary to make sudden movements and approach the beaver closer than a few meters, while it is important to observe its behavior. Narbut clarified that pet owners should keep them on a leash near places where beavers could potentially live.
"In no case should you try to feed or pet them. There is no need to reach out to them at all," the expert concluded.
Senior Researcher at the Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPEE RAS) Ivan Bashinsky reported on April 14 that in the spring, grown-up individuals of beavers go in search of their own homes, so they can sometimes be seen even in the center of Moscow.
