Russian athletes will win many more victories under their native flag and accompanied by the national anthem. This was announced on April 22 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the winners and prize-winners of the World Boxing Championship.

"I am sure that you, like your comrades, representatives of various sports, have many more sporting triumphs ahead, including at major international competitions and always under our native flag accompanied by the national anthem of Russia," the Russian leader said.

Putin stressed that Russian athletes are gradually returning to the international arena and are showing good results. The president especially noted the triumph of the Russian Paralympians.
