The American side understands who could make a deal with Iran, and is waiting for a "single proposal" from Tehran. This was announced on April 22 by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"The White House and our intelligence apparatus certainly have a good understanding of the situation. However, we want to see a unified response and a unified proposal," she said during a conversation with reporters at the White House.

In addition, she noted that the American leader Donald Trump decided to extend the ceasefire because Iran "needs to put its affairs in order."

On the same day, Trump admitted that peace talks with Iran could take place within the next one and a half to three days. He also said on April 20 that he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which expires on the night of April 23.

At the same time, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said on April 20 that it was Washington that had asked his country to prepare a plan for peace in the future. The draft prepared by the American side, as the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Russia added, was rejected by Tehran almost immediately.
