CNN stated the US desire to limit Iran's decision-making time.
The United States plans to provide Iran with limited time to prepare solutions to resolve the conflict in the Middle East. This was reported on April 22 by CNN News channel, citing sources.
"Trump plans to present the Iranians with a limited time frame to draw up a unified proposal that will allow the resumption of peace talks," the material says.
The publication claims that the White House does not want to extend the ceasefire indefinitely and provide Tehran with additional time to delay negotiations.
Sources said that Trump was wary of extending the previous agreement on a temporary cessation of hostilities after the deadline. According to the TV channel, he wants the deal to go through as quickly as possible, and hopes that a short deadline will force Iran to come to the negotiating table.
On the same day, Trump admitted that peace talks with Iran could take place within the next one and a half to three days. He also said on April 20 that he would not extend the temporary ceasefire with Tehran, which expires on the night of April 23.
At the same time, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said on April 20 that it was Washington that had asked his country to prepare a plan for peace in the future. The draft prepared by the American side, as the head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Russia added, was rejected by Tehran almost immediately.
