Another French soldier during the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon died of his wounds. This was announced on April 22 by French President Emmanuel Macron.

"Corporal Anice Girardin of the 132nd Canine Infantry Regiment in Suippe, repatriated yesterday from Lebanon, <...> died this morning from his injuries," Macron wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The French President also expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased soldier and said that France sympathizes with the remaining wounded French peacekeepers in Lebanon.

On April 18, the UNIFIL command reported that the UN interim force in southern Lebanon was attacked, one soldier was killed and three were injured. French President Emmanuel Macron called for those responsible for the death of the French peacekeeper to be punished and previously blamed Hezbollah for the attack. The movement itself denied its involvement and called on the UN mission and the Lebanese army to work together to clarify all the circumstances of the crime.

On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked several areas in southern Lebanon due to alleged violations of the ceasefire. The day before, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 2,294 people had been killed as a result of Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory since March 2.
