Buryatia took the first place in the number of sheep and goats among the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. At the end of 2025, there were 270.2 thousand individuals in the republic's farms, Buryatstat reports.

In terms of the number of cattle, Buryatia took the second place after Transbaikalia, in pigs — the second place after Primorye and the third in horses — after Yakutia and the Trans-Baikal Territory.

According to IA UlanMedia, last year 332 thousand cattle were kept in the region, of which 131.2 thousand cows, 168.6 thousand pigs, 51.6 thousand horses and 416.5 thousand birds.

At the same time, the number of pigs increased by 7.8% over the year, while the number of other farm animals decreased. Thus, the number of cattle decreased by 0.8%, horses by 1.3%, sheep and goats by 7.4%, and poultry by 12.7%.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that agricultural producers had asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to cancel product labeling due to the increase in bankruptcies and the withdrawal of a number of farms into the shadows. The cost of labeling implementation on average reaches 1 million rubles with revenue of 2.5–3 million.
