Reuters pointed to the use of Ukrainian technology by the US military to combat UAVs.
The US military began using Ukrainian drone counteraction technology at a key American airbase in Saudi Arabia after the Iranian attacks. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 22, citing sources.
According to the agency, the Americans have implemented a Ukrainian system for detecting Sky Map drones at one of the Saudi air bases. Earlier, the Ukrainian military arrived there to train American troops.
The Pentagon has already increased investments in anti-drone technology, the newspaper writes. However, according to analysts, the use of Ukrainian technology "highlights the vulnerability of the American air and missile defense system."
"There have long been gaps in the U.S. air and missile defense system around the world. This is well known. However, the problem has not been solved yet," said Timothy Walton, a senior researcher at the Hudson Institute, a Washington think tank.
Earlier, on April 15, it became known that the group of autonomous combat systems (DAWG) at the Pentagon appealed to the authorities with a request to increase its funding by 242 times. According to the data provided, the division's budget may increase from $225 million in 2026 to $54.6 billion in 2027. At the same time, the bulk of the amount of $ 53.6 billion is planned to be issued as mandatory allocations.
On April 21, CNN reported that the military operation against Iran had led to a critical depletion of US stocks of key weapons.
