Experts have named the best time to buy a new car in Russia
Spring and early summer may be the most successful time to buy a new car. Thanks to less hype, it is possible to make a more rational choice, discuss more pleasant conditions with the dealer, and also receive gifts such as a set of tires, CTP, hard hat, free maintenance, and more. This was reported to Izvestia on April 23 by Avito Auto experts, who studied the dynamics of demand, supply and sales of new cars on the platform for the period from 2020 to 2025.
According to analysts, the second half of spring and summer are traditionally a fairly quiet period for the new car market. Interest in buying is decreasing (by an average of 9% relative to the annual average), but it still remains at a high level. At the same time, some market recovery is often recorded in March, for example, in March 2025, interest was 3% higher than in February, in 2024 - by 9%, in 2023 — by 7%. Moreover, the market has grown by an impressive 36% this year.
The segment of premium cars turned out to be more stable and less dependent on the time of year: interest in them fluctuates within 5%, both during "cooling off" periods and during peak months, experts noted. At the same time, the SUV segment (crossovers and SUVs) shows the most pronounced seasonality: in autumn and winter, interest in them grows twice as fast as in other passenger cars (interest increases to an average of 20% relative to summer, while in other segments — up to 10%).
There is also a trend towards seasonality in the dynamics of the number of ads, but the peak more often occurs at the end of this year and the beginning of the next — during this period, dealers become more active in order to maximize the sale of car stocks. The high season (October – January) accounts for an average of about 35% of all offers that are placed on the platform during the year, the analysts added.
The day before, it was reported that in Russia, according to the results of the first quarter of this year, 29.1 thousand new passenger cars of the premium segment were sold, which is 36.1% more than in the same period last year. Exeed became the most popular premium brand, while BMW, which is not officially represented in the country, took the second place.
