During the All-Russian spring campaign "Coin Week", the network of PSB branches accepted 1.3 million coins from the population for a total amount of almost 5 million rubles, the bank's press service reported. The total weight of the deposited change exceeded six tons.

The most popular coins brought to the bank for exchange were coins with a face value of one ruble — their share was 26% of the total. The second and third places are shared by coins in denominations of ten rubles and two rubles — 23 and 19%, respectively. The combined share of penny and five-kopeck coins was almost 4% of the total. The rarest coin was 25 rubles, whose share was less than 1%.

"PSB participates annually in the Coin Week campaign, which continues to grow in interest among Russians. Coin Week provides an opportunity not only to return metal money into circulation, but also fulfills an important social mission in the development of financial literacy of the younger generation, who in the digital age are accustomed to a wide variety of non-cash payments. Such actions allow us to remind of the importance of each coin, its significance for the entire Russian economy, and most importantly, to form a responsible attitude to money and an informed approach to a conservative type of savings," said Yuri Latanov, Head of the PSB Savings and Transaction Products Department.

The smallest exchange operation in the PSB — 40 coins for one kopeck — took place at the bank's branch in Ulyanovsk. The largest exchange operation was carried out at a bank branch in Bryansk, where 77,100 coins worth 318,500 rubles were accepted at one time. The same office became the leader in the number of accepted coins and the number of citizens who applied: during the campaign, residents of the city handed over more than 300 thousand coins with a total weight of 1.5 tons to the Bryansk office of the PSB.

The Coin Week was held across the country from April 6 to 18 with the support of the Bank of Russia.
