Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will fly to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day Parade, even despite Poland's ban on using its airspace for overflight. This was announced on Wednesday, April 22, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Republic Robert Kalinyak.

"And last year it was a different route, we didn't fly through Poland either," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying at a press conference.

At the same time, Kalinak clarified that he himself would not go to Russia for the festive events dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day.

Lithuania and Latvia denied a Fico plane a potential flight to Russia over their territories on April 18, and Estonia joined them the next day. Representatives of the European Union (EU) air traffic control services at the same time, on April 19, named three possible routes by which the Slovak Prime Minister would be able to arrive at his destination, bypassing the prohibited territories.
