Arrested in Moscow for preparing a terrorist attack, he wanted to defect to Ukraine

A Russian arrested for preparing an explosion at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow confessed that he wanted to defect to Ukraine. He said this in a video distributed on April 22 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"I have decided to leave the Russian Federation and join Ukraine. I found a bot through the Telegram channel, and through this bot I contacted the curator. I explained to the curator my position to go over to the side of Ukraine. And I replied that I was ready to cooperate," the man said.

According to him, he flew to Moscow and checked into a hotel. The supervisor pointed out to him the coordinates of three places where it was necessary to conduct reconnaissance. Then the person involved had to be informed of the location of the explosive device. It was assumed that the man would plant the bomb at his discretion using a remote control.

Earlier that day, FSB officers detained a man who was planning to detonate an improvised explosive device at one of the facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Moscow. According to the agency, the defendant himself contacted the militants of Ukrainian terrorist organizations and, on their instructions, came to Moscow to commit a terrorist attack. After that, they promised to help him travel to Ukraine to participate in military operations against the Russian military.
