On the night of April 22, 2026, in Syzran, Samara region, the entrance of a four-story apartment building partially collapsed. The reason was the attack of a Ukrainian drone. The circumstances of the incident
The governor of the Samara Region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, stated in his Telegram channel that the cause of the collapse was an attack by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). According to him, the air defense forces repelled a massive raid on the region.
According to preliminary information, 11 people, including two children, were injured as a result of the collapse of the entrance to an apartment building in Syzran. Prior to that, it was reported that four people had been rescued from the rubble and the search for at least two more was ongoing.
Search and rescue operations
Search and rescue operations are continuing at the scene. Rescuers are dismantling the rubble and periodically announcing "minutes of silence" to determine the location of possible victims.
Significant forces have been involved in the work: nine ambulance teams and three teams from the Disaster Medicine Center. In addition, 55 rescuers from the Volga Region Rescue Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have been sent. Residents of the surviving entrances were evacuated. A temporary accommodation facility has been set up for them.
The UAV attack and the reaction of the authorities
Employees of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation in the Samara region went to the site of the collapse of the entrance of a multi-storey building in Syzran. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev personally coordinates the work of emergency services and keeps the situation under control.
Due to the threat of drone attacks in the Samara region, a "Carpet" regime was introduced, meaning the closure of airspace at all altitudes. The Federal Air Transport Agency also imposed temporary restrictions on the reception and release of aircraft at the Kurumoch airport in Samara.
