Rescuers in Buryatia resumed work on the evacuation of the bodies of Krasnoyarsk tourists who died in the mountainous area in the west of the republic. This was announced on April 22 in the press service of the Republican Agency for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations.

"By 03:10 a.m. (22:10 Moscow time on April 21), the first stage of work was completed. The bodies of two of the victims were transported to the area of the Lake area, and another tourist was taken to a car in the Strelka area. The advance of special equipment to Strelka made it possible to reduce the distance of walking transportation of bodies from 20 to 15 km," the Telegram channel said.

It is specified that the evacuation takes place in extreme weather conditions. A snowstorm and strong winds have been recorded in the mountains, due to which visibility remains limited. In addition, there are still problems with communication with the group operating in the mountains.

Five volunteers from the LizaAlert search and rescue team from Irkutsk were involved in the transportation. All of them have special mountaineering training. In the morning, rescuers and volunteers continued to advance in the remote area.

In Buryatia, on April 21, three people died while descending from a mountain on a tourist route in the republic. The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the region initiated a pre-investigation check. Later, a criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence"). Local media reported that tourists paid 22 thousand rubles for the tour.

According to the investigation, a group of 15 tourists left the camp for the mountains on April 18 and were supposed to return four days later. But on the night of April 21, several people went down to the highway and left a note in a roadside cafe mentioning the deaths of three people during the descent. Among the dead were a man and two women. Later, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that a rockfall could have caused the death of tourists.
