- New environmentally friendly power units will be installed at the Moscow thermal power plant
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller have launched the construction of environmentally friendly power units at two Moscow power plants, TPP—25 and TPP-26. The project will be fully completed in 2028, the head of the capital announced in his channel in the MAX.
A combined-cycle power unit with a capacity of 225 MW will be installed at CHPP-25, including a GTE-160 gas turbine, a steam turbine and a recovery boiler. A steam-powered power unit with an electric capacity of 275 MW and a thermal capacity of 360 Gcal/h with a T-275/320-23.5 heating turbine will be built at CHPP-26. Domestic-made equipment will be installed at the power plants, including the Leningrad Metal, Ural Turbine and Podolsk Machine-Building Plants, Sobyanin said.
"The Moscow power grid is the largest in our country. It requires constant modernization and thoughtful development," said the head of the capital. According to him, Moscow will need about 4 GW of additional electricity by 2030. As a result of the construction of new power units, Moscow will receive 500 MW of additional capacity.
Sobyanin explained the growing demand for electricity by several factors. Thus, large amounts of real estate are being commissioned in the Moscow region, new metro and tram lines are being built, suburban railways are being reconstructed, and electric transport is developing. In addition, over the past five years, the consumption of electricity by data centers in the capital has increased fivefold.
According to Sobyanin, the development of the Moscow energy system is a federal task that is being implemented on behalf of the president in accordance with the approved program of the Russian government. The project involves the Ministry of Energy, the government of the Moscow Region, the System Operator of the Unified Energy System, Rosseti, Gazprom, Rosatom, Inter RAO and other companies.
