The number of cameras recording violations by scooters in Moscow has grown to 375

The number of data center cameras recording violations of users of personal mobility equipment (SIM) in Moscow has grown to 375 units. This was announced on Sunday, April 21, by the metropolitan Department of Transport.

Data center cameras use neural networks to detect 67 types of violations, including from SIM users. They recognize the numbers of the scooters and transmit the information to rental operators, who take action against violators, said Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's deputy mayor for Transport.

So, the cameras identify those who ride together on the same scooter, exceed the speed limit, do not dismount at pedestrian crossings, ride along the bike lane in the opposite direction and do not use the bike lane if available.

"Such cameras are installed primarily in places where accidents involving SIM are concentrated and where there are many pedestrians and scooters. As soon as the camera detects a potential violation, it reads the unique number on the SIM. Then the information is sent to the rental operators, who take measures against violators," the Department of Transport said.

The department urged Muscovites not to accelerate at a speed exceeding 25 km/h, dismount at pedestrian crossings and not ride on the same scooter together.

Deptrans of Moscow together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation are working on amendments to the legislation, according to which heavy electric scooters and bicycles will be prohibited from moving on sidewalks. In addition, as noted on April 2, the metropolitan authorities are going to transfer information about traffic violations by couriers on electric scooters and electric bicycles to courier services and the State Traffic Inspectorate.
