The enemy has the ability to strengthen its defenses based on geographical and industrial facilities, so it will take about two months to take control of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. This opinion was expressed by retired military expert Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk on Tuesday, April 21.
"These cities are very urbanized and industrialized. This is such a chain of agglomerations — mines, workings, underground structures, rather rugged terrain, a number of small rivers, ponds, and backwaters. We will probably have to apply the experience of taking a city like Mariupol, because the enemy will make full use of underground communications," Matviychuk said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
He recalled that Kramatorsk and Slavyansk are the second army defensive line of the Ukrainian grouping in the southern direction. The battles for these cities, in his opinion, will be comparable to taking control of Ugledar and Avdiivka. At the same time, the colonel stressed, the Russian Armed Forces will not storm, but divide the territories into sections, gradually narrowing the ring of encirclement in terms of their penetration or defeat.
