Four top managers of Eksmo-AST holding were questioned as part of the criminal case. This was announced to Izvestia on April 21 by Ekaterina Kozhanova, Director of Strategic Communications at the publishing group.

"These are the distribution director, the finance director, the CEO and the deputy editorial director No. 1 for commercial activities," she said.

On the same day, law enforcement officers seized dozens of boxes of books from the Eksmo-Ast publishing group during searches in the case of LGBT propaganda.

Earlier that day, the CEO of Eksmo publishing house, Evgeny Kapyev, was taken away for questioning in the case of LGBT propaganda. The security forces also took the editor-in-chief of Eksmo, Alexandra Shipetina, for questioning. In Moscow, law enforcement officers searched the management of the Eksmo-Ast publishing group. A criminal case has been opened under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of the activities of an extremist organization").

According to Izvestia, the investigation is related to the distribution of LGBT novels "Summer in a Pioneer Tie" and "What the Swallow is silent about" by Elena Prokasheva (pseudonym - Elena Malisova, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) and Ekaterina Dudko (pseudonym — Katerina Silvanova, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent). Other LGBT works are also involved in the case.
