Billionaire former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov (recognized as a member of an extremist association banned in the Russian Federation) became the owner of an elite apartment in Monaco, paying a record $554 million for it. This was reported by Bloomberg on April 21, citing documents confirming the deal, including extracts from the local real estate registry.

The agency notes that Akhmetov's purchase is one of the largest real estate transactions in history. According to the documents, the elite facility became the property of a Ukrainian businessman in 2024.

The apartment is located in the prestigious residential complex "Le Renzo", occupies five floors with a total area of 2.5 thousand square meters and includes 21 rooms. It has a private pool, Jacuzzi, several balconies and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

The purchase price also includes eight parking spaces. Rinat Akhmetov is considered the richest citizen of Ukraine. In March, he entered the Forbes list of dollar billionaires with a fortune of $7.8 billion.

In addition to Akhmetov, the list includes businessman Viktor Pinchuk ($ 2.8 billion), co-founder of the fintech company Revolut Vlad Yatsenko ($2.2 billion), former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist) with a fortune of 1.5 billion, founder of the agricultural holding Kernel Andrey Verevsky ($ 1.2 billion), as well as Vadim Novinsky and Konstantin Zhevago, who left Ukraine. According to Forbes, the fortunes of most of them have decreased over the past year.

On January 16, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation reported that the Paris court supported the Russian side in the lawsuit filed by Ukrainian businessman Akhmetov. It is noted that France supported the arguments of the Russian justice system that "the composition of the arbitration was formed unlawfully."

Ukrainian businessman Akhmetov initiated arbitration proceedings against Russia for lost assets in Donbass in April 2023 and demanded compensation from Russia for all losses incurred by him. The list of assets included dozens of enterprises in the mining, metallurgical, energy sectors and real estate. In 2018, Akhmetov's structures have already filed a lawsuit with the arbitration court in The Hague over DTEK's energy assets in Crimea, and in 2022 with the European Court of Human Rights.
