The former vice-governor of the Samara Region, Gennady Gendin, received five years in prison in a fraud case worth about 100 million rubles. This was reported to Izvestia on April 21 by his lawyer Vladimir Shelupakhin.

He added that the defense intends to appeal this decision. Gendin did not admit his guilt.

According to media reports, the former vice-governor, referring to his connections in government agencies, fraudulently received money for issuing government permits for urban development work.

In September 2025, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Gendin to six years in a general regime penal colony. Prior to that, on August 9, it became known that Gendin was accused of fraud on a particularly large scale.
