The State Duma (DG) approved in the second and third readings a draft law that proposes to create mobile pharmacy points to increase the availability of medicines for citizens. This was announced on April 21 on the website of the State Duma.

The experiment on the sale of medicines through mobile pharmacies will begin on September 1, 2026. At such points, it will be possible to purchase both the most common drugs and prescription drugs upon pre-order. The exception will be products containing psychotropic and narcotic substances, as well as those requiring special storage conditions.

The vehicles involved in the delivery of medicines will be equipped for autonomous operation.

"[The adoption of the law] will make it possible to increase the availability of medicines for our citizens, especially for residents of remote settlements where there are no permanent pharmacies," said Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.

He also recalled that the initiative was prepared by the deputies of the State Duma in pursuance of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, given during a direct line.

According to expert data, out of 83,000 operating pharmacies, only 14% are located in remote areas. According to Volodin, it is planned that one mobile pharmacy will be able to serve up to 50 assigned locations.

Yesterday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the Russian government had simplified the provision of medicines for children from large families. According to him, Russia has built a comprehensive social protection system covering various areas: payments to parents, benefits for utilities, and additional benefits for pensions.
