A service has been launched on the website of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia to verify information about the recycling fee paid for a car. On April 21, <url> Magazine drew attention to this.

To check, enter the VIN number, chassis or body number of the vehicle. The service reflects information about the paid scrap collection in respect of wheeled vehicles imported into the territory of the Russian Federation from April 1, 2022.

In the absence of information about recycling, the FCS recommends contacting the customs authority. It is noted that the verification function on the FCS website will be useful when buying a car imported into the Russian Federation by an unofficial supplier.

On February 13, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed Izvestia that Russia plans to adjust the mechanism for calculating scrap collection for cars imported into the country from the territory of the EAEU countries. The changes are aimed at eliminating cases of underestimation of the customs value of a vehicle and various schemes to reduce the amount of payments.

Previously, this approach has already been applied to cars imported into the EAEU by legal entities, and now it is planned to extend it to the import of individuals. At the same time, the proposed solution will not affect those importers who knowingly state the correct customs value of the car in the import documents, the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized.
