Lavrov pointed to Russia's desire to promote the unity of Libya.
Russia is ready to assist and contribute to the establishment of unity in Libya. This was stated on April 21 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting with his Libyan counterpart Taher al-Baour.
"At this stage, of course, we primarily want to assist in restoring unity and national accord in Libya, and we will be ready to contribute to these efforts," the diplomat said.
The Russian Foreign Minister recalled that he had recently had contacts on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNA) of Libya, Abdel Hamid Dbeiba. He also spoke with representatives of Benghazi a few weeks ago.
"So Russia is striving to cover the entire geography with its meetings and contacts with representatives of our Libyan colleagues and thereby contribute to restoring the unity of your country, which we would be very happy about," Lavrov said.
On April 17, Grigory Lukyanov, Deputy Dean of the Oriental Faculty of the State Academic University of Humanities, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that in Libya, the eastern government, relying on the Libyan National Army, consistently develops relations with Russia, including military construction.
