The Tagansky court of Moscow found the Telegram messenger guilty of not removing content banned in Russia. This was announced on April 21 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
It is noted that Telegram was given an administrative penalty in the form of a fine in the amount of 7 million rubles.
Telegram was found guilty of an offense under part 4 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the procedure for restricting access to information, access to which is subject to restriction in the Russian Federation"). The article provides for a fine of 3 million to 8 million rubles for legal entities.
On March 23, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow found the Telegram messenger guilty of committing administrative offenses related to the failure to delete prohibited information. He imposed a fine of 10.5 million rubles.
Prior to that, on March 18, it was reported that Telegram had blocked more than 100,000 groups and channels in a day. Since the beginning of March, Telegram has blocked 1,547,231 communities, of which more than 9,000 are linked to terrorism. Since the beginning of 2026, the total number of blocked groups and channels has reached over 10 million.
