In Bucharest, at a thermal power plant (CHP) A powerful explosion occurred at CET Vest. This was announced on April 21 by the Romanian TV channel Antena 3.

"A fire broke out on Monday evening at the Western District Heating (CET) power plant in Bucharest, after a 10,000 kW transformer containing about 30 tons of oil allegedly exploded," the material says.

The head of the Romanian Department of Emergency Situations, Raed Arafat, clarified that two transformers had caught fire at the plant. According to him, there are no victims. Arafat urged residents of nearby areas to close their windows to avoid smoke entering their homes, Digi24 TV channel reports.

When asked about the likely spread of the fire, he replied that, according to firefighters, this is not expected. The situation on the territory continues to be monitored.

Earlier, on April 17, it was reported that the work of the thermal power plant in Chernihiv in northern Ukraine was temporarily stopped after the explosions in the city. The City Council noted that the timing of the restoration of the CHP has not yet been determined. The scale of the damage requires a detailed technical assessment.
