Biographical books about Vysotsky and Bulgakov will be marked in Russia
Biographies of writer Mikhail Bulgakov and author and singer of songs Vladimir Vysotsky, as well as a number of other books in Russia will be subject to special labeling in accordance with the law on the prohibition of drug propaganda. This was announced on April 21 in the updated industry list on the website of the Russian Book Union.
The list includes the book "Mikhail Bulgakov" (fifth edition) by Alexei Varlamov, published in the series "The Life of Wonderful People" (ZHZL). The book about Vladimir Vysotsky, written by Vladimir Novikov, will also be labeled.
In addition, the list includes other works from the ZhZL series, including "Venedikt Yerofeyev: A Stranger" by Alexander Senkevich, "Valery Bryusov. Be marble" by Vasily Molodyakov and "Vera Kholodnaya. Fragments of Myths" by Evgenia Klimova.
The industry list was formed by publishers for self-regulation and the development of a unified practice for the application of new standards. On March 1, amendments to the law "On Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances" came into force, providing for responsibility for the distribution of works mentioning drugs.
On March 23, it was reported that modern translations of novels by Erich Maria Remarque, John Steinbeck, and short stories by Jean-Paul Sartre, released after 1990, would be labeled in Russia according to the law on countering drug propaganda. The list includes not only modern books, including works by Viktor Pelevin, Sergei Lukyanenko, Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk and Haruka Murakami, but also translations of classics published after August 1, 1990.
