- Kiev's permanent representative to the UN demanded that the EU give Ukraine 1% of GDP.
On April 21, Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Andriy Melnyk, demanded that European allies decide to increase military aid to Kiev to 1% of their GDP.
"We call on our European allies to take another historic step and make a political decision to increase military assistance to Ukraine to 1% of GDP," Melnyk said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
MEP Thierry Mariani said on April 20 that the European Union's (EU) loan to Ukraine in the amount of €90 billion is a gift that Kiev will not be able to return, and the Europeans and their children will have to pay for it. The politician described the decision to issue such a loan to Kiev as deceitful and cowardly.
On April 15, the head of the French National Unification Party, Jordan Bardella, said that financial assistance to Ukraine was damaging social programs and the well-being of French citizens. According to him, citizens are regularly urged to "tighten their belts," while the state, according to him, is not able to reduce its own costs by even 1%.
