The cargo turnover of the Lavna commercial sea port has amounted to 1.4 million tons since its launch in March 2025. Such data was announced by the head of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis.

The facility is located on the western shore of the Kola Bay and its main activity is coal transshipment. The port has been under construction for several years. Currently, its readiness is estimated at 96%.

The project cost 87 billion rubles to implement. It is assumed that the operation of Lavna will allow coal transshipment beyond the regional center.

According to Bi-Port news agency, coal transshipment is currently carried out by the Murmansk Commercial Sea Port. Cargo turnover at the enterprise has decreased significantly in recent years. Thus, in the first three months of 2026, the port shipped 39% less coal than in the same period a year earlier.

The construction of the Lavna port began in 2021. According to the project, the production capacity of the coal terminal should be 18 million tons of coal per year. At the same time, there is a prospect of increasing cargo turnover to 24 million tons of coal per year.
