Nikolay Topornin, PhD, Director of the Center for European Information, analyzed on Monday, April 20, which European countries and political forces may soon take a course towards friendship and dialogue with Russia.

According to him, the leadership of Rumen Radev's Progressive Bulgaria party in the parliamentary elections is an important signal.

The political scientist added that elections are expected in Estonia next year, and Kai Kallas's Reforma party is losing ground there. He believes that there will not necessarily be a pro-Russian government, but there will be a change, and perhaps towards a more balanced, rational approach, taking into account economic problems.

"In Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz's rating is falling, and the Alternative for Germany party, which favors Russia, is gaining popularity. In France, Emmanuel Macron is leaving, and the leader of the National Unification Party, Jordan Bardella, can change the vector of the country's policy," Topornin said in a commentary for The Paragraph.

The political scientist noted that the influence of Prime Minister Robert Fico remains in Slovakia, and Peter Magyar, who recently won the elections in Hungary, intends to discuss oil supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline with Russia, and this is an example of a pragmatic approach.

In the face of economic difficulties and fatigue from confrontation, Europe will increasingly look for ways to a reasonable dialogue with Moscow, he concluded.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia supports Radev's words about dialogue with Moscow. 360.ru . He stressed Russia's position that any conflicts should be resolved peacefully at the negotiating table, RT reports.

At the same time, he added that it is premature to draw conclusions about a change in the "pan-European climate", reports NSN.
