The specialist said in an interview with aif.ru that sugar and sweets are "food" for cancer cells. She stressed that excessive sugar consumption causes insulin spikes, chronic inflammation, fatty liver, and feeds cancer cells. To mitigate the negative effects of sugar consumption, the doctor recommended eating high—protein fatty foods, such as nuts, cottage cheese and eggs - the protein will slow down the absorption of glucose.

She noted that sausages and ham should be consumed with a large number of products containing fiber — greens, cabbage and bran.
According to Slyunyaeva, margarine and industrial pastries are vascular killers, as they contain a huge amount of trans fats. The harm lies in the fact that vascular function is disrupted, atherosclerosis and insulin resistance are caused. The specialist advised washing down these categories of food with green tea or eating them with avocado.
The gastroenterologist called packaged juices another harmful product because of the liquid fructose they contain. Therefore, it is recommended to dilute the juice with water in a one-to-two ratio or add it to smoothies with greens and chia seeds, she added.
The doctor noted that excessive alcohol consumption can lead to serious complications such as systemic inflammation, neuron death, liver fibrosis and breast cancer in women. She suggested snacking on alcohol, fatty fish containing omega-3, which protects cell membranes, and drinking plenty of water.
