Matvienko called for a more even settlement of people in Russia

In Russia, it is necessary to create conditions for the uniform settlement of people throughout the country by creating good living conditions outside of large cities. This was announced on April 20 by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.

"Historically, Russia is not a country of agglomerations and megacities. The depopulation of territories is a strategic threat to us, we cannot allow this, either from the point of view of national security or from the point of view of economic development," the head of the Federation Council emphasized at the III All—Russian Municipal Forum "Small Motherland — the Strength of Russia", which is being held at the Rossiya National Center.
