The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has sent a warning to large retail chains about the need for responsible pricing during the seasonal demand period ahead of the May holidays. This was announced on April 20 by the press service of the department.

"The service warned about the obligation to strictly comply with the requirements of antimonopoly legislation," the agency said in a message on the MAX messenger.

The FAS constantly monitors prices for food products, including meat products. The cost of these products varies throughout the year due to seasonal factors, one of which is increased demand during the May holidays.

The Agency drew the attention of market participants to the inadmissibility of unjustified price increases for beef, pork, lamb, chicken meat and other goods in high demand during the holidays.

According to a study by the Kupibilet service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 20, the majority of Russians maintain the same level of vacation expenses, but some travelers face rising prices or are forced to reduce their budget. 39% of respondents said that their vacation expenses have not changed in 2026.
