The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland recommended that Russian citizens submit a biometric passport as one of the visa documents from May 1, 2026, because the country will stop accepting Russian non-biometric passports from July 1 this year. The Ministry announced this on April 20.

"Applicants are advised to apply for a visa with a biometric passport from May 1, 2026," the statement said.
