Natalia Andreichenko, one of the brightest actresses of Soviet cinema, became a real star thanks to roles that millions of viewers still remember. Her career spans decades, and her name is inextricably linked with the classics of Russian cinema. It celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2026. Biography of Natalia Andreichenko: childhood, family and education

Natalia Andreichenko was born on May 3, 1956 in Moscow. Her father, Eduard Stanislavovich, was an engineer who participated in the Great Patriotic War, and her mother, Lidia Vasilyevna Sokolova, worked as an inspector at the USSR Ministry of Education.

The family lived in Dolgoprudny, where they moved because of their father's work at a local machine-building plant. They gave him an apartment there. The future artist was engaged in figure skating, ballet and studied at a music school (now the Children's Art School in Dolgoprudny on Sportivnaya Street, 2).

From an early age, she was interested in art, studied music and dancing, but eventually made a choice in favor of an acting career. After an unsuccessful attempt to enter the Shchepkin Theater School in 1973, Andreichenko entered the VGIK, her mentors were Sergei Bondarchuk and Irina Skobtseva.

Andreichenko's film career began in 1975. As a second-year student, she played a role in the films "From Dawn to Dawn" and "Lullaby for Men."

Major acting success came to her in 1979 after a role in the epic "Sibiriada". The film was awarded a special jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival. But the biggest delight among the audience was caused by two roles of Andreichenko — Luba Antipova in the melodrama "Military Field Novel" (1983) and Mary Poppins in Leonid Kvinikhidze's television film "Mary Poppins, goodbye!" (1984).

For her role in the film "Sorry" (1986), she was named the best actress of the year by readers of the Soviet Screen magazine, and for her role as Katerina Izmailova in the film "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District" (1990), she was nominated for the Nika Film Award in the Best Actress category.

In the 1990s, Natalia Andreichenko moved beyond Soviet cinema and took part in international projects, including in the United States, where she continued to develop her career and collaborate with foreign directors.

In the late 1990s, the actress returned to Russia, where she also embodied several memorable images. One of the most successful projects of this period for her was the melodrama "Give me Moonlight" (2001), in which Andreichenko played the role of the main character's wife. Subsequently, she appeared in other Russian films and TV series: "On the Roof of the World" (2008), "A Very Russian detective" (2008). And in 2011, the actress became Dmitry Nagiyev's co-host in the show "Mother in Law".

Over the years of her work in cinema, Natalia Andreichenko has been awarded a number of professional awards and honorary titles. She received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR, and her work has been repeatedly noted by both domestic and international critics.

She received the Lenin Komsomol Award (1984) for her outstanding performance in films of recent years, as well as the prize of the Valladolid International Festival (Spain) (1984) for Best Actress. Andreichenko was recognized as the best actress of the year according to the results of a survey by the Soviet Screen magazine (1987) and is the winner of the Figaro Award (2022, 2025).

Actress Natalia Andreichenko got married twice. Her first husband was the composer Maxim Dunaevsky. They had a son, Dmitry, in their marriage. The actress was 26 years old at the time of his birth. As a child, the boy moved with his mother to the USA, and later received his education in Switzerland.

The second choice of the actress was actor and film director Maximilian Schell. A daughter, Nastasia, was born in the marriage. She was born in 1989 in Munich.

At the age of 34, Natalia Andreichenko suffered a clinical death after a serious car accident. Doctors then warned of a high risk of serious disability. Nevertheless, she managed to fully recover and return to work. Later, she continued her career in the United States, but she almost did not receive significant roles there.

Natalia Andreichenko currently spends most of her time in Mexico, where, according to media reports, she has created her own center dedicated to yoga, meditation, and a raw food-based nutrition system.

She positions herself as a spiritual mentor. Within the framework of its "International Academy of Kindness", located on the Caribbean coast, it accepts students from different countries. She also periodically conducts the "lunch with a star" meeting format, where she herself acts as an invited guest.
